Plans for the competition began earlier in the week and I decided that with 40 players, our maximum, it would be good to have a pairs better ball competition, so last Thursday, ably assisted by Dot and Barry, I conducted a draw for partners. With such a huge range of handicaps some interesting pairs emerged. We had 10 tee times reserved, six on White & Red and 4 on Blue & White. 20 pairs started the competition in glorious sunshine. Very soon after, the mist rolled in from the sea, then went out again only to keep returning. Each time the temperature dropped significantly. All the scores for the winning pairs were within 4 points of each other, so well done. 2 pairs tied for 1st place each scoring 46 points but the winning pair were Dot and Lennart who had the better score on the white course. 2nd place went to John A and Steve B also with 46 points. 3rd place went to Sune and Mimmo with a score of 43 points. 4th place was also a draw between 5 pairs but with the better score on the white course the prize was awarded to an all lady partnership, Louise and Cynthia with 42 points. Prizes were also awarded for the best score on the white course and the red or blue course, but if anyone had already won a prize their score did not qualify. The prize for the white course went to Maria and Arild with a score of 23 points and the prize for the red or blue course went to Jim and Stefan with a score of 26. After a very enjoyable day we retired to Los Sabores for drinks and tapas and the prize giving. Next week, 27th January, Los Amigos are playing at Alboran and Jim is the organiser.
