We decided to hold our Spring Competition at the beginning of April before most of Los Amigos return to their home countries. Every one playing golf or attending the dinner were asked to bring a gift that would be used as prizes. A great days golfing was had by all in spite of the early start. 38 players set off from the 1st tee of the white course, after the customary photo call, to play a Los Amigos 'Step Aside' Scramble. After the front 9 we all enjoyed beverages and hot cross buns at the 'halfway bar'. Then on to the red course. The wind was getting stronger but we bravely carried on! Fortunately, waiting for us after the 18th hole was another chance to sample the delights at the 'halfway bar', more beverages and hot cross buns. At 19.45 everyone congregated at El Espigon and the fun began! Cava reception followed by a delicious meal. We played games, table against table, Yahtzee, darts and had a putting competition. The winning table was Rudolph, Maria H, Joan, Peter E, Pepe, Trini, Lennart and Kristina and they were presented with biscuits or chocolates. Then onto the results of the mornings tournament: The winner of the men's straightest drive was Richard O and the winner of the ladies straightest drive was Rosemary, both very close to the rope and receiving a bottle of wine as a prize each The men's nearest the pin was nearly won by Thea, but her name was on the wrong sheet. With a measurement of 5.65m the bottle of wine was won by Sune. The ladies nearest the pin in 3 was a different matter. After a lot of confusion, Ann N won the bottle of wine with a measurement of 1.40m. The first team of Paul T, Sylvia, Jan and Kristina won the main competition with 61 points. In second place was the team of Sune, Alison, Lee and Trini with 61.7 points, and in third place was the team of Pepe, Maria H, Inger and Rolf with 63.8 points Some wonderful gifts were arranged on a table and each team, in order of results, and the non-players, were asked to choose a gift from the table. Dancing followed into the small hours until the restaurant encouraged us to leave and go to bed. I would like to wish everyone safe travels if you are returning home and I look forward to seeing you all in the autumn.
