We had 44 golfers playing a Texas Scramble using 3 clubs and a putter. As our first tee time was at 8.32 many of our golfers arrived in the dark bearing Christmas gifts and to register with Debbie and Anne before the competition began. By the time play started the sun had begun to shine. It was the perfect day! After 9 holes we were able to take short rest and enjoy a drink and a mince pie at the halfway bar. Then it was best foot forward to play the second 9. What a nice surprise to find the halfway bar was still open after 18 holes for some much needed refreshments!
Then on to the cava reception at El Espigón where we were fed and ‘watered’. During the evening we were quizzed about our knowledge of Spain, guessed the number of sweets in a jar and had a putting competition. Peter White won the jar of sweets with an exact guess and very generously shared the contents with everyone. Table 1 seemed to be the best at the quiz and putting, so well done to Louise, John Wil, Marianne, Trini, Pepe, Sune, Sylvia and Terry. Then it was on to prizes and the results from the golf.
Prizes were given to the most original Christmas outfit from the morning, Ben who arrived dressed as a reindeer and Rudolph who kept loosing the balls from is green waistcoat!
Nearest the pins were won by Steve with a distance is 1m 88 cm and for the ladies with a distance 4m 06cm was Mari-Anne P.
The Straightest drives were won by Mike G with distance of 90cm from the line but Uli won the ladies competition with her ball actually resting on the painted line.
Congratulations to all our prize winners.
After the prize giving Ben started the music for us all to dance. A good time was had by all!
