On Saturday 1st April we held our annual Spring Competition. A reverse Waltz using 3 clubs and a putter. 30 players arrived for our early start in beautiful sunshine. After playing the Blue Course we were greeted by Debbie at the halfway bar where we enjoyed some light refreshments. The wine and beer went down very well even though it was before 11.00. Then on to the White Course, a much more difficult course with plenty of water!
With 18 holes completed in very warm conditions, guess what, Debbie was waiting for us with yet more refreshments, which were enjoyed by all.
Then on to the evening! A BBQ at El Espigón on the beach front. Welcome drinks and nibbles were served on the terrace while everyone chanced their arm at quoits and putting. The winners of the terrace games were Steve who won the putting competition and Sissi who won the Quoits.
In the main competition of the day the winners of the Straightest Drive on hole 6 on the White Course were Trini, for the ladies, whose ball measured an amazing 38cm from the line and Donal, for the men, whose ball was a distance of 52cm.
Nearest the pin on Hole 2 on the Blue Course was won by Olli, for the men, with measurement of 11.38m and Louise, for the Ladies, with a measurement of 15m. I must add that the pin position was in a very difficult spot, right behind the bunker. I'm sure there were closer balls to the pin but sadly not on the green!
Everyone had been warned to expect some surprises because of All Fools Day! The scores were announced in the usual way but the prizes were awarded for scores on particular holes, but there were prizes for everyone! Sadly I lost my notes at the BBQ so can only report on the team scores!
