What a fantastic day! It was amazing to see everyone arriving in Christmas hats and outfits. It was difficult to choose the best outfits, but eventually the organisers agreed that the two people who not only arrived in full Christmas outfits, but also played the complete 18 holes dressed as a Christmas tree and an elf. Congratulations to Yvonne, the Christmas tree and Steve the elf who received a small prize for their fantastic efforts.
The format for the day was a Shambles in teams of 4 with the 2 best scores to count. Each player had to take 4 drives and after the best ball had been chosen everyone played their own ball.
40 players braved a chilly early start and set off on the Blue & White Course. On hole 2 we had a nearest the pin competition for both ladies and men. Rosemary won the ladies with a distance of 4.82m. The mens competition was won by Derek K with a distance of 0.83m.
On Hole 9 there was a competition for the straightest drive. The winners, whose drive was closest to the line on the fairway, were Joan for the ladies and Sune for the men.
Refreshments were served at the halfway bar by Debbie who provided home baked sausage rolls and mince pies baked by Rosemary. Thank you to both ladies for all their hard work.
In the main competition the winning team, of Ben, Geradine, Jonny Mac and Lynne had a massive score of 108 points, closely followed in 2nd place by Derek K, Uli, Lennart and Penny with a score of 107 points. In 3rd place, on count back, was the team of Donal, Hans, Maggis and Sylvia with a score of 102 points.
