On Saturday 9th April, we held our Spring Competition. 21 players took part in glorious sunshine. We played a Reverse Waltz in teams of 3. On holes 7 on both the Blue and White Courses the team score could be doubled. Rosemary provided home made hot cross buns which were available at the halfway bar. Anne Sh and Chris kindly ran the halfway and close of play which proved to be very popular with the players. Thank you ladies for your help in making the day so successful. We had the usual nearest the pins and the straightest drive for both men and ladies.
For the ladies, nearest the pin on hole 2 on the blue course was won by Ritva with a distance of 8.30m. On hole 8 on the White Course, nearest the pin was won by Marianne with a distance of 8.50m. The straightest drive was won by our newest player, Geraldine.
For the men, all three prizes were won by the same person, André. Nearest the pin on hole 2 on the Blue Course with a distance of 5.65m, on hole 8 on the White Course the distance to the pin was 75cm and Andre was also the man with the straightest drive.
Well done to all our winners.
The team that won the main competition scored a whopping 109 points, 16 points ahead of second place. Well done to Sune, Lennart and Geraldine.
Our presentation evening was held, once again, at El Espigón, were everyone was greeted with a welcome drink and we had putting and quoits competitions on the terrace outside the restaurant. The putting competition was won by Sune, but only after a playoff with one of our non-golfers, Tatiana. The quoits competition was won by Peter E, one of our retired golfers. Well done to everyone for taking part in the fun, and especially to our winners.
The evening progressed with a buffet BBQ, the prize presentations, and a music quiz. Then the dancing began.
I think everyone will agree, a great day was had by all.
